Privacy policy
This explains what personal information BeeBeezy collects, why, and what you can do about it, under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020.
Who we are
BeeBeezy is a trading name of Marthus Johan Meyer (MJ Meyer), a sole trader in Aotearoa New Zealand (“we”, “us”). Questions or requests about your information go to hello@beebeezy.com, or by post to 29 Edward Abell Street, Milldale, Auckland 0932.
The early access list
When you join the early access list on this website, we collect:
- your email address;
- if you choose to tell us: your trade, team size and region;
- when you joined and the wording you agreed to, so we can show you asked to hear from us, and when you unsubscribed if you do.
We use these only to email you about BeeBeezy: a confirmation when you join, then news about the launch. We also use your answers to understand which kinds of business are interested. To stop spam, we also keep a scrambled, one-way code made from your network address for one hour. We can't turn it back into your address. We never sell the list.
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to remove you at any time by emailing hello@beebeezy.com.
Using BeeBeezy
When your business uses BeeBeezy, we hold:
- account details for the people your business invites, such as name, email and sign-in records;
- your business's work: enquiries, customers and sites, quotes, jobs, schedules, time, materials, photos, notes, invoices and payment records;
- technical records needed to run and secure the service, such as error logs.
Information about your customers is held on your business's behalf. Your business decides what goes in and how it's used; we use it only to provide BeeBeezy to your business.
Payments
Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to the information it collects.
Cookies
This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. The BeeBeezy app uses cookies only to keep you signed in.
Where it's stored and who else sees it
We use trusted service providers to run BeeBeezy. They may store or process information outside New Zealand, and we choose providers with protections comparable to the Privacy Act:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the website and the app and stores its data;
- Stripe, for subscriptions and card payments;
- Xero, if your business connects it, for invoices and payments you choose to sync;
- Apple or Google map services on your phone, when the field app shows a site's address on a map;
- Cloudflare Email Service, which sends our emails.
We don't share personal information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- The early access list: until BeeBeezy launches and you've had a chance to sign up, or until you ask us to remove you.
- Business accounts: while the account is active, and for 90 days after it's cancelled, unless the law requires longer.
Keeping it safe
Information is encrypted in transit and stored with access limited to the people and systems that need it. If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll tell the people affected and the Privacy Commissioner.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email hello@beebeezy.com. We'll respond within 20 working days. If your information is held for a business that uses BeeBeezy, we may pass your request to them.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, where we can, let you know by email.
